VIDEOGAMES, LOS GOYA AND TOURS

It’s been a while that I cannot spend sometime writing a post and it doesn’t mean that I’ve been laying around. Quite the opposite. It’s been some crazy weeks working hard to put some projects out there.

PERSEFONE TOUR POSTPONED

I always prefer starting with the bad news, and these ones are particularly sad. As some of you know, I play keyboards in the band Persefone. For the last 20 years this has been one of my main projects (if not my main project). We are about to release a new album and a tour was intended to help the promotion of it. We were supossed to support the german band Obscura and the tour would take place in Europe. Unfortunatelly and due to covid restrictions the tour had to be cancelled.

But it’s not all that bad news. The tour has been postponed to the next year. The tour dates look like this:

VIDEOCLIPS

With all promotion, there are some mandatory videoclips that have to happen. We already shot one last summer and recently we did another one. I cannot tell you much about it and I can’t even put some images here as it’s kind of top secret but I wanted to let you know.

The whole thing was kind of fun. A freezing experience too if you ask… We went in the mountain at night here in Andorra and did some shooting with some fancy atrezzo. Leds, strobe ligths, sound equipment, loud music, all that happened as you can imagine. It was particularly fun to see cars stopping by to check what was going on because the scene wasn’t far away from the main road.

The result is simply amazing and I cannot wait for this to be out there!

VIDEOGAMES

One of the things that is taking a big portion of my time is some new tracks for two videogames. As usual, there’s a secrecy around one of them because it’s not released yet so, again, there’s not so much I can tell about it. It’s been challenging because we need to work on music that doesn’t catch the player’s attention, but also that creates a particular mood. This is simply difficult because some of the moods are intended to catch the attention. So we have been struggling back and forth with ideas and now we are on the right path. Among the references that we had are Thomas Newman and John Williams so, as you can imagine, I’m more than happy with this.

The other videogame is Big Farm Story by GoodGames Studios. I have several tracks in my portfolio that you can check. Mostly ambient music with a relaxed vibe but in this case, we had to do a Halloween track and a another track yet to be released. It’s always fun to work on themed tracks as it takes the creativity to places that I don’t usually visit that much. Different moods, different instrumentation. That all makes it interesting to work on tracks like “Halloween theme tracks”.

Here you have the trailer for the Halloween song. If you want to check the whole thing you’ll have to go to Steam and play the game.

LOS GOYA

Finally, one of the parts that makes me extra happy. The documentary Mr Hand Solo has 8 candidatures to the pretigious spanish awards “Los Goya” and one of them is for “Best original music” that Carlos Lozano and I wrote for this amazing film along with our partner Pere Revert at Sonnos Andorra. Now now, although these are amazing news, I’m been realistic and I know this won’t translate into a nomination BUT, nobody arrived to a goal without putting a first stem in the right direction. For me this is the first stem into that direction, and I mean the direction of being a film composer. Awards are nice and really welcome, mostly because of the exposure they give to the awarded person, but in the end what a musician wants is to make music and these kind of news allow us to be closer to this goal.

From here I want to thank Hector Romance and Jose Pozo for believing in us for the music of this documentary. Also I want to congratulate the rest of the team on this amazing achievement.

And that’s all for now. I know I’ll be back with more news because lots of things are happening lately, so stay tuned!
